Ogrodzieniec Castle - a fortress sunk in the rock - is a showcase of 14th century castles built during the reign of Casimir III the Great. Built on top of the highest hill, it blends in perfectly with the rocky town of Podzamcze. It is the most impressive Eagle's Nest in the Krakow-Czestochowa Upland. The ruins of this castle are among the largest and most interesting objects in Poland. In its heyday, the castle belonged to eminent families and was nicknamed "little Wawel". It is not without reason that films such as "Janosik", "Knight" and "Revenge" were filmed here.
